Training a dog is a complicated process, but the end result of properly enacted training process will generally result in a dog that can perform a variety of tasks and skills that is far beyond what most people thought possible. The Curriculum

Within the standard program of guide training for a dog the dog is taught a variety of skills in a manner of progressive learning. The dog is usually taught via a reward program where he is provided with positive affirmation as he does what he is told and exceeds the common expectations that are expected of it.

Of the common things taught during guide training for a dog involve leading his master from one area to another in a straight line; ceasing movement when a change in elevation is present; avoiding obstacles that may appear overhead; avoiding any and all obstructions that may block a path or present a hazard. While this may seem overly basic it is also critically important for the dog to successful and repeatedly performs the tasks properly. The success level is exceedingly high and this is because Seeing Eye dog training programs are often very well thought and properly executed by those trainers who know what they are doing and provide an amazingly valuable purpose.
